Law of Detachment

This is an extract from famous Deepak Chopra's book "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" Law of Detachment:-
In order to acquire anything in the physical universe, one has to relinquish attachment to it. Basically we need to work towards the goals but give up the attachment to the result.
Anything you want can be acquired through detachment, because detachment is based on the unquestioning belief in the power of your true self.

Attachment is based on fear and insecurity -- and the need for security is based on NOT KNOWING the TRUE SELF.

The source of wealth and abundance in this world is -- SELF. We as humans have immense power and source of infinite energy only if we know our true SELF.
Detachment gives you freedom to create. Without detachment, we are prisoners of helplessness, hopelessness, mundane needs, trivial concerns, quiet desperation and seriousness.

We as people are constantly seeking security, by attachment to money which is a sign of insecurity. Security is elusive and ephemeral. The search for security is an illusion.

We should have wisdom of insecurity and wisdom of uncertainty.
Uncertainty is a fertile land of pure creativity and freedom. Without uncertainty life is just a repetition of outworn memories. You become victim of past. Relinquish your attachment to the known, step into the unknown, and you will step into the field of all possibilities. This will step you into wisdom of uncertainty. When you experience uncertainty, you are on the right path.
Attachment to a result locks your creativity down.

The Law of Detachment does not interfere with the Law of Intention and Desire - with goal setting. You still have the intention of going in certain direction, you still have a goal. However, between point A and point B, there are infinite possibilities. With uncertainty factored on, you might change direction in any moment if you find a higher ideal, or if you find something more exciting.

The Law of Detachment accelerates the whole process of evolution. Understanding this, you don't force solutions. When you force solutions on problems, you end up creating new problems.
Every single problem that you have in your life is the seed of an opportunity for some greater benefit.
See every problem in your life as an opportunity for some greater benefit.

How to apply it --

1. Allow yourself and those around you the freedom to be as they are. Do not rigidly impose your ideas of how things should be. Lets not force solutions on problems, thereby creating new problems.

2. Accept uncertainty in life and solutions will emerge out of problems, out of confusion and disorder and chaos. The more uncertain things are, the more secure you should try to feel because uncertainty is the path to freedom. Through the wisdom of uncertainty, we will find security.

3. Try to remain open to infinite choices and possibilities in life. Do not lock yourself to a person or idea or material thing in life. Experience the fun, adventure and magic and mysteries of life.
