Karma yogi

Karma Yoga or 'selfless service' is the act of offering our services for the benefit of others. It purifies the heart of selfish negative emotions and takes us further along the path in our spiritual evolution. Karma Yoga comes naturally to people of outgoing or service-oriented nature, giving natural expression to devotion and wisdom. Karma yoga is the foundation of all yoga and helps us free ourselves to act with compassion and devotion in any situation life presents. Karma Yoga offers a great opportunity to transform mundane activities into spiritual practice, cultivating an attitude of caring while centered in the inner peace which is our very nature. When we apply the simple teachings to our work, it becomes our worship and helps us feel more connected and in the flow with the dharma of life. In this day and age, we will rarely find people doing things for the sake of doing them. Most of us do things because we expect to be rewarded in the end. For instance, we go to work and do our job well so that we will get compensated or have our salaries increased. But it shouldn't always be the case, as illustrated by Karma Yoga which a Hindu concept that refers to our attitude towards duty. Karma Yoga is the concept wherein one must do an action selflessly for the Supreme Being. It means that we offer the fruits of our labor to the Lord instead of seeking to have them for our own. Doing so truly liberates us because we do not get tied to the consequences of our actions. What does it mean to be liberated in the sense of Karma Yoga? It means that when we do not get attached to our action, we do not get burdened by it. When we become unburdened by the act, it brings forth ease in doing it. This might come to those unfamiliar with the concept as a big and lofty but aimless talk. How then would Karma Yoga figure into our everyday life? Take for example taking care of an elderly in a nursing home. Imagine yourself as being one of the caregivers. The most likely reason that you got that job is because you were expecting a financial compensation for the hours you worked there. By focusing on the compensation, you cease to care about what you're really doing there and everything becomes work to you. However, if you start distancing yourself from the financial compensation and just focus on selfless service as taught by Karma Yoga, things tend to become easier. What you are doing now ceases to become work. You begin taking good care of them instead of doing just the usual routine of attending to their needs. Do not fret though, as you will also start seeing much more fruitful rewards here like a smile from the person that you are taking care of. Sure, it may not be a financial reward but a great reward nonetheless to top off the money that you are getting from your work. :)

Law of Giving

This law can also be called as the "Law of Giving and Receiving", because the universe operates through the dynamic exchange. Nothing is static. Body, mind, energy all are dynamic in nature.
Because your body and your mind and the universe are in constant and dynamic exchange, stopping the circulation of energy is like stopping the flow of blood. Whenever the blood stops flowing, it begins to clot, to coagulate, to stagnate. That is why you must give and receive in order to keep wealth and affluence.

Do not hold onto things like money etc. Keep it in constant flow, since it is life energy, we will stop its circulation back into our lives as well. Like a river, money must keep flowing, otherwise it begins to stagnate, to clog, to suffocate and strangle its very own life force.Circulation keeps it alive and vital.

Every relationship is one of give and take.
Giving engenders receiving and receiving engenders giving. In reality receiving is the same thing as giving.

The more you give, the more you will receive. Anything that is of value in life only multiplies when it is given. If through the act of giving, you feel you have lost something, then the gift is not truly given and will not cause increase. If you give grudgingly, there is no energy behind that giving.
It is the intention behind your giving and receiving that is the most important thing. The intention should always be to create happiness for the giver and the receiver, because happiness is life-supporting and life-sustaining and therefore generates increase. The return is directly proportional to the giving when it is unconditional and from the heart. Act of giving has to be joyful.
Even the thought of giving, the thought of blessing, or a simple prayer has the power to affect others.

Law of Karma

This is another spiritual Law of Success -- "Law of Karma" -- from Deepak Chopra's famous book "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success"

Law of Karma:-

Karma is both action and the consequence of that action; it is a cause and effect simultaneously.
What you sow is what you reap is a common saying and is a direct outcome of the Law of Karma
We should be consciously aware of the choices we make in life.
Note:- Everything that is happening at this moment is a result of the choices we have made in the past. Many of us make choices unconsciously and therefore do not even realize that they are the choices we are making.
If a girl rejects a guy for some reason...two things will happen..The boy feels bad and offended or he will keep moving thinking there is goodies in this too. So it is also a choice ..a choice to keep yourself happy or keep thinking and feeling bad.

When you make a choice, ask yourself two things:-
1. What are the consequences of this choice that I am making ?-- Your heart will give you the answer
2. Will this choice that I am making now brings happiness to me and to those around me?
If the answer to both these questions is YES, then feel free to make this choice
Note:- Your heart knows the correct answer most of the times...Most of us think that heart is a sentimental, but actually it is not. It helps us in decision making. Heart is intuitive. Follow your heart....It is important.

Past Karmas:-
What about our past Karmas and how is it influencing us now?
There are three things we can do about our past karmas:-
1. Pay your karmic debts
2. Transform your karma into a more desirable experience. Ask yourself what can I learn from this experience. What and why is this thing happening and what is the message the universe wants to give me? How can I make this experience more useful to my fellow humans. This helps you to get a seed of dharmic opportunity.
Transmutation of karma into a positive experience wherein others can learn from your experience is very important and a good thing you can do to pay back your karmic debts.
3.The third way to deal with Karma is to transcend it. To transcend Karma is to become independent of it. It is like washing a dirty piece of cloth in a stream of water. Every time you wash it, you take away a few stains. You keep washing it again and again, and each time it gets a little cleaner. You wash the seeds of your karma by going into the gap and coming out again. This is done through meditation.

Try to become a conscious choice maker. This will help you to generate actions that are evolutionary for you and for those that are around you.

Law of Detachment

This is an extract from famous Deepak Chopra's book "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" Law of Detachment:-
In order to acquire anything in the physical universe, one has to relinquish attachment to it. Basically we need to work towards the goals but give up the attachment to the result.
Anything you want can be acquired through detachment, because detachment is based on the unquestioning belief in the power of your true self.

Attachment is based on fear and insecurity -- and the need for security is based on NOT KNOWING the TRUE SELF.

The source of wealth and abundance in this world is -- SELF. We as humans have immense power and source of infinite energy only if we know our true SELF.
Detachment gives you freedom to create. Without detachment, we are prisoners of helplessness, hopelessness, mundane needs, trivial concerns, quiet desperation and seriousness.

We as people are constantly seeking security, by attachment to money which is a sign of insecurity. Security is elusive and ephemeral. The search for security is an illusion.

We should have wisdom of insecurity and wisdom of uncertainty.
Uncertainty is a fertile land of pure creativity and freedom. Without uncertainty life is just a repetition of outworn memories. You become victim of past. Relinquish your attachment to the known, step into the unknown, and you will step into the field of all possibilities. This will step you into wisdom of uncertainty. When you experience uncertainty, you are on the right path.
Attachment to a result locks your creativity down.

The Law of Detachment does not interfere with the Law of Intention and Desire - with goal setting. You still have the intention of going in certain direction, you still have a goal. However, between point A and point B, there are infinite possibilities. With uncertainty factored on, you might change direction in any moment if you find a higher ideal, or if you find something more exciting.

The Law of Detachment accelerates the whole process of evolution. Understanding this, you don't force solutions. When you force solutions on problems, you end up creating new problems.
Every single problem that you have in your life is the seed of an opportunity for some greater benefit.
See every problem in your life as an opportunity for some greater benefit.

How to apply it --

1. Allow yourself and those around you the freedom to be as they are. Do not rigidly impose your ideas of how things should be. Lets not force solutions on problems, thereby creating new problems.

2. Accept uncertainty in life and solutions will emerge out of problems, out of confusion and disorder and chaos. The more uncertain things are, the more secure you should try to feel because uncertainty is the path to freedom. Through the wisdom of uncertainty, we will find security.

3. Try to remain open to infinite choices and possibilities in life. Do not lock yourself to a person or idea or material thing in life. Experience the fun, adventure and magic and mysteries of life.
